Being featured on our Top Releases of the Summer list, Polar Bear Club have picked their first single off their album Chasing Hamburg and they chose a great song at that. The video for “Light Of Local Eyes” was filmed at a show at The Social in Orlando,FL as well as at the Fest 8 in Gainesville, FL.

7. Photobucket Polar Bear Club - Chasing Hamburg

With their own mix of indie and hardcore music, Polar Bear Club stand out amongst their peers. Recently signed to Bridge Nine Records, Polar Bear Club’s second full length takes a slight poppier turn from their older material, but still tend to stick to their roots. If there’s one thing they do know how to do, it’s how to write a hook. When listening you can’t help but get lyrics like “all we live for is now or never” and “broken still but never breaking ties” stuck in your head. While older fans of the band may not enjoy this, I find it to be a step in the right direction. Standout Tracks: Boxes, Light of Local Eyes

6. Photobucket Cage - Depart From Me

Being a rap album, this may seem slightly out of place on the site, but in reality fits it way more than one would think. The story of Christian Palko, whose stage name is Cage Kennylz, is surely an interesting one to read up on and ties directly into the music he make. Depart From Mefeatures infectious beats, dark lyrics, and a few fun tracks as well. As the album title suggests, this album definitely makes somewhat of a departure from his past work and has even garnered some mainstream attention (thanks in part to his friend Shia Labeouf). I suggest giving this album a try, and if you like it check out his previous work, if not, well kick rocks. Standout Tracks: Dr. Strong, Nothing Left To Say

5. Photobucket Thrice - Beggars

When a band has been around for a long time, you either see their music getting dull or increasing in brightness with every step. For Thrice it’s the latter as this band has grown and progressed so much from their first release. The lyrics, the rhythms, the production; everything on Beggars is crafted in a way to make the listener think and appreciate what they are hearing. With the perfect mix of fast and slow songs, this album has a lasting value you don’t find very much these days. Standout Tracks: At The Last, Circles

4. Photobucket Brand New - Daisy

Even though Brand New has a pretty dedicated fan base, with each album they release controversy always seems to stir up. Daisy is for sure a grower, but it is filled with solid tracks full of different elements. While I do love this album, it’s somewhat hard to give a review. The listener needs to form an opinion themselves and not be influenced by what others think, as it may sway your view of the album. I can tell you one thing though, the opening track will scare the shit out of you. Standout Tracks: Bought A Bride, You Stole

*to be qualified the album had to be released between June 21st and September 22nd
