Slowly becoming one of my favorite bands, things are starting to pick up in the world of Transit. They are releasing a Split 7” with Man Overboard that you can pre-order here and listen to here. It includes two new songs, “Please, Head North” and “Riding The Bullet”. The band also has some scattered east coast shows lined up and will embark on a tour with Make Do and Mend in late December. You can see their video for “Stay Home” (off of the EP of the same name) below.
While I’ve personally never been a huge fan of Paramore, this video is done extremely well and the song isn’t that bad either.
The Fold - Every Band In The U.S.A. (Miley Cyrus parody)
Finally, a song that says what everyone is thinking. The Fold are geniuses for coming up with this and it’s definitely gaining them some positive feedback. The video is pretty funny too.
I’ve realized I’ve been slacking a bit in the post department, but things should pick up again soon. I still have a few album reviews to post, but from here on out I won’t be doing a review for every band of the week because I don’t really have the time. There’s no New Music Tuesday today, because nothing really came out and we’ll have a new Unsigned Band Of The Week up on Sunday. I’ll also be setting up a contest for the month of December, so more details about that soon. Hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving and again thanks for reading and supporting the blog.
Having just announced two Reunion/Holiday Shows, and besides that no future plans until 2011, it seems this is the perfect time to take a look back on this amazing band. The Starting Line formed in 1999, released a demo, soon got signed to Drive-Thru records in 2001 and released an EP. In 2002, their album Say It Like You Mean It came out and things really started to take off for the band. Their video for “Best Of Me” got a fair amount of play on TV and easily became their most known song. From then on they became a staple in the pop-punk scene. After mild success and constant touring they signed to Geffen Records where they released Based On a True Story. Due to problems with the label they left Geffen and soon found a home at Virgin, where they released Direction in 2007. Once again The Starting Line found themselves a hit with their song “Island”. They did two successful tours for the album, and then announced their hiatus in early 2008. Their last show was at Bamboozle in NJ in May of 2008. They recently released a live CD/DVD, Somebody’s Gonna Miss Us, that documents their last headlining tour, as well as the struggles and growth of the band. Throughout their time The Starting Line have paved the way and influenced many other bands, as well as grown a dedicated fan base. Although it’s only been a little over a year since they went on a break, the band is greatly missed and people were ecstatic when these two shows were announced. Although we definitely haven’t seen the last of this band, it’s nice to look back at a few great moments in their career.
In January, You Me At Six will release their second album Hold Me Down. The band was recently interviewed by a radio station in the U.K. and debuted a new song off the album called “The Consequence”. The song shows YMAS improving on the sound from their first album and is very well done. You can listen to it below.
Above is the song “The Menagerie” by our band of the week, Take One Car. Listen to it and I’m sure you’ll be impressed. If you like it check out their album, When The Ceiling Meets The Floor, and look at their myspace for some Northeast tour dates.
Protest The Hero just keeps cranking out the music videos, and they’re good ones at that. “Limb From Limb” is the band’s 5th single off of their album Fortress. Let’s just say the video involves a The Village People parody, a dance off, a bit of nudity, and is bound to make you laugh.
Two awesome tours announced within two days of each other? 2010 is already looking great! Motion City Soundtrack will be heading out on tour to support their upcoming album My Dinosaur Life. Joining them will be Set Your Goals, This Providence, and The Swellers. This is only the first batch of dates, so look out for another announcement soon. Presale here.
